DemoWorks is lighter than Camtasia in the number features offered. The key differences are DemoWorks does not export demos in audio-only formats (such as MP3), there is no interactivity in the videos (such as table-of-contents navigation), you can't export to WMV (DemoWorks offers AVI), and DemoWorks is not intended for capturing video animation (such as a video in Windows Media Player) because the maximum frame rate DemoWorks can record at is not high enough to record a video at equal quality. But Demoworks can generate animated GIFs and executable output. Executable output means the enduser doesn't need a video player such as Windows Media Player, to play the demo.
DemoWorks is intended for generating relatively small demonstration videos fairly quickly and easily, that tutorize how to run your application. There’s good flexibility in the different capture modes, such as the full screen, a window, a region and background mode. DemoWorks is very quick and easy to use and, of course, the possibilities with either are "endless."
Hope that helps,
