I just downloaded the latest version of the Studio Enterprise.  Installed it on a system with VS2008.  Got a new license key because of the new licensing mechanism of ComponentOne.  Added a WebChart to an application I had been creating in VS2008.  It told me I had to add the C1.Win.C1Chart.2.dll to my references, which I did.  I then ran the application and the chart worked fine except it indicated that it was the Evaluation version (a reccuring theme it seems with C1).  Well having been through this before with C1, I looked for the .licx file to delete and recreate.  Well it's not there.  I am assuming the problem is the C1.Win.C1Chart component not in the licensing since the WebChart merely renders the chart in the windows component and displays it in the WebChart.  How does this work with the new activate/deactivate licensing scheme??????

I found the post Patrick made last month on this issue using the new 2.0 controls.  It was a very detailed post.  The problem is that there is no licenses.licx file in my web site so nothing he tells me in his post is doable.  I have re-built the solution every way I know how and it just does not seem to create a licenses.licx file.  I have re-run the installation to "Repair" the original installation.  I have added a new form to the site and put a new C1WebChart into that form.  I clicked on the "About ComponentOne C1WebChart.." link in the property page section of the web chart and it shows that it is properly licensed.  It JUST WILL NOT CREATE A LICENSES.LICX file!!!!

I finally copied an Licenses.licx file from one of the WebChart samples and added it as an existing item and the site runs without the display of the "Evaluation Copy" message. However this is not a real solution to the issue.  This is the first time I have used your new licensing methodology and also the first time I have used Visual Studio 2008 but this version is claimed to work under Visual Studio 2008 so I don't know what to think.

Hi Mike,

The issue you are facing is not specific to C1 controls only, it could happen with any third party component being used in VS 2008.
Please know that the Licenses.licx file is not generated in VS 2008 for third party control(s). However, the good news is that this has been fixed in the VS 2008 SP1 which can be downloaded from the following location: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/cc533448.aspx

Hope this helps.

Regards,
John Adams
