Re: Cannot Activate Component with serial number

Is there a problem between developing on 64-bit and deploying onto 32-bit system?

I get the " **Evaluation version ... " message on the website when I build a website on Vista 64 bit with VS 2008 and deploy on Windows Server 2003 32 bit. The message doesn't come up when I deploy the same website built with VS2005.

In VS2008 I created the licenses.licx file manually and used Build Runtime Licesnses option to build App_Licenses.dll. Still that doesn't resolve the issue on the server. Please help!

    Hi amesoft,

Do you get the evaluation message when you view the website on your 64-bit Vista machine? I would try that, and also double-check that the licenses.licx file is correct (no comma at the end of the line, for example). As far as I know, there is no issue with developing on 64-bit and deploying on 32-bit... the only known issue with 64-bit machines is activation, and that issue is solved by using v6 or later for c1licensing.exe

Hi I have a newly installed Windows Vista 64 bit machine with VS2008, I installed the 2008 v2 controls using my serial with no problems, or that's what I thought. When I try and run the Live update, I am told that I can only download them as Evaluation versions, and in my projects all I see is the eval nag messages. I tried using the latest Licensing file and tried creating a new project and adding the controls from scratch, the only option I have in the About is to Deactivate my license wich as it tells me I am not seems a little odd.

Can you help please I have lots of sites using these controls and no way to maintain them now.

Re: Cannot Activate Component with serial number

     Hi Steve,

Did you enter your serial number for 2008v2  when you ran the installer? The installer would not prompt for a license if there was a previously installed license on your machine, so it's possible that is what happened, but the installed license is not current.

Try deactivating the controls using your current license key and then reactivating them. That should fix things.

    Thanks!
