Yesterday I downloaded and installed the "2008 Q1" release of ComponentOne Studio Enterprise. I'm dismayed by the fact that:
1) The installers (still) do not add the components to the Visual Studio 2008 toolbox
2) The installer for the ".Net 2.0 Winforms components" installs the exact same .dll versions packaged in the outdated "2007 Q3" release. I'm sure the .dlls for several of the .Net 2.0 components have been modified since "2007 Q3" was originally released. Where are the final builds of the "20081" versions of the .Net 2.0 components?
Do you know how long it takes to backup the all of the previous trimesters .dlls, uninstall all of the previous trimesters installations, and finally run all the installers included in an update? The amount of time is not trivial. And I'm not happy that the time I spent yesterday was for naught, especially since the "2007 Q3" update, as originally packaged, has fubar .dlls that need to be reverted to "2007 Q2".
I installed "2008 Q1" because it was supposed to contain the bug fixes introduced in the "2007 Q3" update.
