    2008 Q1 Release

Yesterday I downloaded and installed the "2008 Q1" release of ComponentOne Studio Enterprise.  I'm dismayed by the fact that:

    1) The installers (still) do not add the components to the Visual Studio 2008 toolbox

    2) The installer for the ".Net 2.0 Winforms components" installs the exact same .dll versions packaged in the outdated "2007 Q3" release.  I'm sure the .dlls for several of the .Net 2.0 components have been modified since "2007 Q3" was originally released.  Where are the final builds of the "20081" versions of the .Net 2.0 components?

Do you know how long it takes to backup the all of the previous trimesters .dlls, uninstall all of the previous trimesters installations, and finally run all the installers included in an update?  The amount of time is not trivial.  And I'm not happy that the time I spent yesterday was for naught, especially since the "2007 Q3" update, as originally packaged, has fubar .dlls that need to be reverted to "2007 Q2".

I installed "2008 Q1" because it was supposed to contain the bug fixes introduced in the "2007 Q3" update.

No C1 response yet?  Your 2008v1 installers install 2007v3.  When do you guys think you can distribute proper 2008v1 installers?

    Re: 2008 Q1 Release

I'm having major issues with 2008 where the License.lic files goes bad when ever the wind blows in from the east and the moon is rising. I uninstalled reinstalled way to many times and and one the of so called fixes to drag and drop the controls from the TOOLBAR that doesn't have anything in it. I thought a new release came out looking at their web site but when I downloaded it it seems like it was in older version. I have T307 and it was T108. I have no clue at this point whats what.  This is amzing that they were not prepared for VS 2008, this is their business (maybe not for long) and not to be ready when VS2008 releases is just plain crazy.

    Re: 2008 Q1 Release

    Hi all,

The 2008v1 release was focused on the WPF controls, but it did also add compatibility for the installers to work in VS2008.

We will be adding a toolbox option for VS2008 in the 2008v2 release in June.

New 2008v1 (and soon 2008v2) controls are available from http://prerelease.componentone.com/ or through the C1 Live Update utility.

The only other known issue with VS2008 is the license.licx file not getting added to ASP.NET applications. This is a known issue in VS2008 that impacts all components using license.licx files (not just C1). There is a simple fix here: http://helpcentral.componentone.com/Article.aspx?ID=1912 and we are working on a permanent fix for 2008v2.

If you're running into any other issues with VS2008 I would recommend contacting our support team directly. Support information is available here: http://www.componentone.com/Support/SupportServices.aspx

    Thanks!

    Re: 2008 Q1 Release

Thanks for the clarification.  However, not all your 2008v1 components are listed on http://prerelease.componentone.com

For example, the 2008v1 C1TrueDBGrid build is missing.  I'm 100% sure you have a 2008v1 build of the grid because you guys emailed it to me.

    Re: 2008 Q1 Release

    Hi,

Builds are only posted on pre-release after they pass regression testing by our QA team. We do sometimes make drops available before they have gone through QA, which is probably what happened in your case. If you need a specific build, you can contact the support team and they will track it down for you.

    Thanks!
