    Re: Latest version and VS2008 installation error

    Hi John,

    The most common cause of error 1720 is that UAC is enabled on Vista and preventing some necessary permissions. However, there are other issues that may cause error 1720. I would suggest sending an error log to our support team so they can look at it.

    Instructions for creating an install log can be found here:

    You can contact our support team by submitting an incident here:

    Re: Latest version and VS2008 installation error

    Hi, I have found workaround for it.

    I have had this problem with T207. And the problem was in the installation. Its built for VS2005 and it expects that there is VS2005 installed.
    Here is my workaround.

    Just run .reg file to let installation think that there is VS2005 installed.

    This reg file just redirects VS2005 installation folders to VS2008.

    I don't how to attach file here so please select and save it as .reg file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\Setup\VS]
    "MSMDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Merge Modules\\"
    "VS7EnvironmentLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\Common7\\IDE\\devenv.exe"
    "EnvironmentPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\Common7\\IDE\\devenv.exe"
    "EnvironmentDirectory"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\Common7\\IDE\\"
    "ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\"
    "VS7CommonDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\Common7\\"
    "VS7CommonBinDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\Common7\\Tools\\"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\Setup\VS\Std]
    "ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\"

    Re: Latest version and VS2008 installation error

    Hi all,

    That fix will work, but the latest installer for 2008v1 should not be looking for VS2005 -it should work on machines with only VS2008.
