    olch2x8.ocx failed to register

    I want to deploy an application under Windows Vista. Under XP Pro the installation file works perfect. Under Vista I get this message during installation:

    Module c:\progam files\ .......\olch2x8.ocx failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895. Contact your support personel.

    When I try to register the ocx myself I get the message:

    Make sure de binary is stored at the specifiec path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files
    The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details.

    This in the log file:

    Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\ProfileDynamics\PDViewer\olch2x8.ocx".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files\ProfileDynamics\PDViewer\olch2x8.ocx" on line 1. The value "T:\drop-chart\newchart\chart8\bin\olch2x8.ocx" of attribute "name" in element "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1^file" is invalid.

    What can be done to solve this?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Gerard

    Hello Gerard,

    You may try the following and share your observations:

    -> Go to C:\windows\system32 folder.

    -> Right click on olch2x8.ocx.

    -> Choose properties/security and then manually add your login.

    -> Then re-register the control.

    Have a great day.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Re: olch2x8.ocx failed to register

    Dave,

    thanks so far.
    The installer did not put olch2x8.ocx in C:\windows\system32. After copying it there, I added my login and try to register. Did not solved thhe problem, I get the same error message.
    Could it be missing other files? Those are still in C:\Program Files\Application directory.
    Is olch2x8.ocx also Vista compatible? The application contains 2 types of graphs, olch2x8.ocx and C1.Win.C1Chart.2.dll Or is the combination conflicting under Vista?

    Your help is greatly appricated. I have to distribute the application mid next week.

     Thanks,
    Gerard

    FWIW, I could never get the 2007v2 version of the ocx to register on my dev. machine. Our subscription ran out, so I don't have the v3. I reverted to v1, which works fine.

    Gerard,

    I recieved an error when trying to email you. Here was my reply:

    ** Honestly, I don't know where to download v1. I spent a long time this morning looking for the list of versions to download and I couldn't find it. Maybe it was before they changed the site, but there used to be a page that listed all the versions available for download. Maybe C1 can tell you where it is.

    Also, you might have better luck in the activex group. This is the .NET group.

    Jason,thanks for your effort. Will try my luck at the ActiveX group. May be it accelerates the process of changing to DotNet chart.Regards,

    Gerard
